Effects of Microclimate on the Growth of Lettuce and Tomatoes in a Water Curtain

Abstract

|
Water-curtain was placed in a plastic house to investigate their environmental characteristics and the effect on the growth of lettuce and tomato during the winter. Temperature of the groundwater was 17.0∼18.2℃. The difference of the night temperature between the inside and outside of the plastic house was 15.8∼20.1℃. And the thereto-keeping capacity was 9.7∼15.3℃ higher than control house. Minimum soil temperature was 6.0∼7.7℃ higher than those of control house. Relative humidity in a plastic house was 92∼100% by spraying groundwater during night. The yield of lettuce was increased by 60% in comparison with control house, but there was not any difference in tomato yield. The oil and electricity consumption was saved 93%.
